An elaborate buffet breakfast is part of the hotel's famous hospitality and guests can also request a picnic lunch to take along on their day's adventure. Visitors' minds will wander into yesteryear as they visit the Chinese Camp, French Flat, Poverty Hill, and Mi Wuk Village. Highway 120 offers year-round access to Yosemite National Park. The county features Yosemite's Tuolumne Meadows, an exquisitely beautiful spot where visitors can discover Spring flowers and Fall foliage. The Emigrant Wilderness encompasses several thousand square miles. Located in Jamestown, Railtown 1897 State Historic Park is home to one of America's last authentic, operating railroad roundhouses. Known as "The Movie Railroad," Railtown's locomotives and cars have appeared in over 300 film and TV productions, including Back to the Future 3, High Noon, Petticoat Junction, and Little House on the Prairie. Roundhouse tours, grounds and gift shop are open daily. Steam trains operate on weekends through most of the year. There are both large and small lakes that are ideal for those who want to water ski, fish, sail, canoe, or houseboat. Boating in the Gold Country can be enjoyed throughout the four seasons. Area lakes include New Melones, Pinecrest, Lake Tulloch, and Lake Don Pedro. Other water sports include rafting, kayaking, fly fishing, and water skiing. Rentals of all types can be found within a short drive from Jamestown. |
